Asbestos Awareness (Half Day)

About Course

Our Asbestos Awareness Training gives your team the essential knowledge to stay safe when working near asbestos-containing materials (ACMs). This course is designed for anyone who may encounter asbestos but is not required to remove it.

Participants will be able to recognise asbestos hazards, understand safe practices, respond appropriately to emergencies, and avoid unsafe activities. Note: This course does not qualify individuals to remove or work directly with asbestos. Licensed training is required.

What Will You Learn?

  • What asbestos is, the different types of fibers, and why it was historically used.
  • The health risks of exposure, including asbestosis, mesothelioma, and lung cancer.
  • Common locations where asbestos may still be found, such as insulation, tiles, coatings, and roofing materials.
  • How to identify potential ACMs safely and why asbestos cannot be confirmed by sight alone.
  • Safe work practices to avoid disturbing asbestos and actions to prevent exposure.
  • Emergency steps to follow if asbestos is accidentally disturbed.
